I don't want to link neither ebay nor amazon but i basically got the "cheap" black metal xlr plugs, they're mostly sold in packs of 5 &10

The threads on the metal housing  are m17x1.0 or at least they fit well enough. 

Since the cap and strain-relief also act as a back-stop for the plug-insert i chose to have reduced clearance for the strain-relief. It gets bent a bit but there is plenty space for the resistor

Use a 120ohm 0.25W jelly-bean resistor between pin 2 and 3.

I have also added the generating freecad file.

PLA was used, 15% Infill but i think basically everything will work.
