The case that came with my Poke3 ereader has served me well for years, but is starting to have issues and is falling apart. Looking around trying to find a replacement, the few that can be found don't have the magnet auto sleep when closed function that I really want for the reader. The original case can be found on ebay, but it costs $40! So it was time to make my own.
What I wanted is a case that would protect the ereader, but not get in the way, so it had to cover the entire reader and put it to sleep when closed. When opened, I wanted the front cover to fold out of the way for easy one handed reading.
While there are plenty of hinge examples around, I didn't manage to find any that would do what I wanted, so these are designed from ideas found other places, but extended to work 360 degrees and to be print in place so that no assembly is required.
I have no idea how well this fits the other poke models, but the scad file should be easy to modify to get the size the way you want and to position the magnet where you want. I found that the 10mm diameter 2mm thick 3m magnets work well.
The large round hole for the power plug is because I use a magnetic cable and that hole allows things to work.
Since I'm still figuring out the best way to latch this closed, I have made it so that you can attach and change the latch mechanism. While this does allow me to change things and experiment, I'm not 100% convinced that it is a long term solution. However, since the latch seems to be the weakest part, being able to replace just the latch if it breaks seems like a win. If you wanted it all to print as once piece, it should be easy enough to attach the latch, but it would then require supports to print properly.
I've printed this in PLA and ABS (the one I'm using now is ABS). No special settings, just what worked for the filament on my k1 max.
The poke3 is kept in place with double sided tape. I figured if it was good enough for the one that came with it, it should work for this as well.
EDIT: I've made this more parametric (number of hinges, attachment points, guide placement, corner rounding etc.) and included a couple of examples for other cases. I also snugged up the fit for the poke3 device itself and made the attachment points beefier. The STL files do not represent the snugged up version.
