It's not supposed to be fully dust-proof or anything child-safe, but my apartment had a socket next to the stove and it got some splashes of food residue in it. After I replaced it, I didn't want it to fill up again. :)

I cut back on the hole as it doesn't need to be deep and sticks just fine (in my Niko socket)
