CRKD Star Power Button Mod

This mod swaps out the stock CRKD guitars battery lid for a custom 3D printed version, moving the Star Power button to the bottom center just like the classic Guitar Hero controllers. It uses one big, tactile cap sitting on top of two mechanical switches, making it way easier to slap and activate.

• Piece 1: Must be printed at 0.1mm layer height. This resolution is required for the precision inserts needed to embed the switch cap into the switches.

• Piece 2: Must be printed vertically without supports. The cap is printed inside the housing to act as its own internal support. Use a rubber mallet to strike the cap and break the thin plastic connections to free it.

• Post-Processing: Piece 2 requires manual finishing. Use sandpaper or a knife to smooth out the irregularities and burrs left behind by the sacrificial support connections.

• Cable Routing: As shown in the bottom photo, the wires pass into the main body of the guitar through an existing hole in the original battery socket location.

• 2x Kailh Choc V1 Mechanical Switches

• 4x M3 5mm Screws (Grade 10.9)

• 15–20cm Red and Black Wire

• Soldering Iron and Solder

• Rubber Mallet

• Sandpaper or Hobby Knife
