Add a touch of personality to your Microserver with a customised nameplate. Add any text or graphic you like using Prusaslicer.
In the past I've used sticky labels but they lose their stickiness after a year or two. This nameplate is physically inserted into the USB port. It also serves as a dust cover.
WARNING: This model shouldn't damage the USB port but proceed at your own risk.
The nameplate is intentionally blank. You can add a multi-material text layer in Prusaslicer. If you have a toolchanger or MMU this is super easy, but this works on single-extruder printers too. The steps for a toolchanger or MMU.
- Import the STL into Prusaslicer and spin it around until you're looking at it from the bottom, through the heatbed.
- Select the nameplate and choose the Text tool (T). Change the font and position as you like. Choose the MODIFIER operation.
- In the Object List right-click the Text object and choose the second extruder. Slice and print your customized nameplate.
For single-extruder printer without an MMU.
- Change into Expert mode. Select your printer system preset and go to the Printers configuration tab.
- Under General - Capabilities increase the Extruders number to 2 and tick the Single Extruder Multi Material checkbox.
- Under Custom G-Code - Tool Change G-Code textbox add the command “M600” (without the quotes).
- Under Single Extruder MM Setup change the Cooling Tube Length to 0, the Cooling Tube Position to 0, and the Filament Parking Position to 0.
- Click Save Preset and use the new User Preset for slicing. The screenshot shows all the changes required.
Then follow the earlier steps as for a toolchanger or MMU. You will have to manually change the filament when prompted and remove the purges with tweezers.
