After deciding to mod my own GameCube controller's Z-button with a tactile mouse switch, I found the need to trim the rubber pads for the BibbEZ mod too invasive. I understand the trimming required is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. Regardless, I set out to design an alternative.
My goal was to shift any permanent modification to the 3d-print/switch side of the equation and preserve the rubber pads. I also decided keep the oem Z-button's metal spring.
You must glue the mouse switch to the 3d-printed bracket.
Installation otherwise is nearly identical to the BibbEZ install guide by @CarVac

The install location, orientation of the switch, bending of its pins, and the wiring, are identical to the guide. You will need to remove the oem Z-button switch from the motherboard for this.
The bracket is held in place by friction and should be pressed firmly into the shell to be fully seated.
Important Notes:
- The bracket should be printed with 100% infill, 0.12 layer height, and “upside-down” so that supports are required for the seat portion.
- Make sure to test fit and check alignments before final gluing.
- You should lightly score the bracket and the mouse switch where they make contact to make sure there is a secure bond. Gluing locations are highlighted green in one of the images.
- I created a small wire guide under the “seat” of the bracket. 28awg magnet wire is recommended.
- The “loop” at the back of the bracket was included as a potential removal point and to strengthen the whole bracket.
- The Z-button should keep its oem spring as there is too much wiggle room otherwise, in my opinion. Travel distance is ~1mm.
- Check to make sure any potential “elephants foot” is not preventing the bracket from being able to fully seated. The tolerances are very tight.
- I have only tested this design on 2 different authentic GCC shells, a T3 w/Nintendo GC logo and a 2014 T3 ssb.
- This was done on a controller with a PhobGCC motherboard installed.
Removal:
Although tricky, the bracket can be removed with strategic use of needle nose tweezers. If the switch is not glued yet, grip between the wire holes with tweezers and gently wiggle it out. You can also stab one tip of the tweezers just beneath the corner of the seat where the thin wall is located and pry upwards, making sure not to damage the Z-button hole of the shell.
Once the switch is glued, You can stab 1 tip of the tweezers just under the switch carefully pry upwards, making sure not to damage the Z-button hole of the shell.
