Update Log 9/6/24:
I made some changes to make the assembly easier, updated the cover so that it can be locked when it's completely closed, and modified some shapes to prevent them from being fitted into the wrong holes. Here is a list of the changes:
- Convex protrusions and sockets have been added to the joints, allowing the parts to automatically snap together. I still recommend using strong adhesive, but this helps to keep the parts in place during the drying process.
- Labels have been added to the parts to make assembly easier. For detailed instructions, please refer to the following section.
- Mainly for aesthetic reasons, the fingerprint grip on the lid was modified.
- The dimensions of some shapes have been modified to prevent them from being fitted into the wrong holes.
- The sections have been reorganized to reduce printing time and to print in a more compact format.
Assembly instructions:
- Firstly, depending on the consumables used and the calibration of your printer, the updated version might be a bit tight. If you're not strong enough, make sure to have a mallet or hammer nearby to hit the joints.
- In the photo, there are three steps and a completed model. The first step is to apply strong glue to the dovetail joints of the parts on the back
- In the second step, apply glue to the groove on the bottom and slide the bottom
- The third step is to apply some glue to the finger joints on the front
- Finally, slide the top into place. The slight slope of the edge will lock the lid after it is completely closed.
Initial version:
A simple shape puzzle box, used for learning shapes.
When assembling, apply strong glue to the joints of the walls. First, assemble the three parts together, then apply some glue to the grooves at the bottom. Slide the bottom into place and add the last wall. Make sure to pay attention to the orientation of each part in the finished assembly photos. They need to be assembled in this way so that the top can slide into place.
To close the box, just slide it in and out from the top.
