A durable memorial sign for where a person using a bicycle was killed by the driver of a motor vehicle. For more details, see: Ghost bike - Wikipedia. One of these signs, installed in memory of a local cyclist in Toronto, has survived for two years in full exposure of -25..+30 °C temperatures with minimal change in appearance.

Requirements

1. OpenSCAD
2. Georg Duffner's EB Garamond fonts, specifically EBGaramond12-SC.ttf
3. my chamfer_extrude.scad library (included)
4. lots of processing time and memory: the chamfered extrusion routine is very slow, and takes around 8 minutes on my 4 GHz i7.

Materials

• I printed this using silver on black PETG
• For mounting, heavy duty gel mounting tape (brands including but not limited to: LePage No More Nails®, Duck Max Strength® Nano-Grab® and Gorilla® Heavy Duty Mounting Tape)

Setup

• Put the deceased cyclist's name in the first and second variables. More or fewer lines require a code rewrite
• If your system doesn't have the Microsoft Segoe UI Symbol font, or you don't want to use it, set the value of the HaveSegoeUISymbolFont variable to false. This will use the included SegoeUIBike.dxf rendered outline.

Printing

While PrusaSlicer helpfully suggests a filament colour change when it detects a mostly 2D model, printing all of the raised chamfered letters in a second colour makes the text too bold. I generally use only the top 2–3 layers in the contrasting colour.
