When I owned several '00-09 Ford Taurus models, I replaced the original audio system with aftermarket ones. I found the cigarette lighter socket to be the ideal installation location.

Made a couple of prototypes and ended up with this perfect fitting adapter

It uses a simple snap-on USB plug that’s available on Amazon.
