While researching prototyping parts I found some that helped lead me to these designs, this one is specifically made to hold two 1x1 pieces together. There are two versions a plan one and there is one with organic holes to help reduce the amount of filament used.

The larger holes are set for 10/32 (.25in)

This is to be attached to a 1x1 stock piece.
