These are printable replacement gaskets for gas can spouts. There are two different versions. The first version is with the spring-loaded spout that comes with most gas cans. The second version is with a flexible replacement spout (like the old version gas can spouts). I am currently doing long-term testing on gas cans with gasoline with up to 15% ethanol and cans with farm diesel. So far no leaks and they seem to be holding up to normal use.
*Please note that these models are directional. They have a top and a bottom. See Installation Instructions at the bottom.
The two spouts have different diameters, so they need different gaskets. The one meant for the spring-loaded spout will not work on the flexible spout. It will leak. Trust me!
Printing Instructions:
This model needs to be printed in TPU. TPU has excellent chemical resistance to gasoline and good resistance to diesel. I print my gaskets in 95A TPU
Slow speeds are generally better for TPU. I usually print in the 40-50 mm/s range with TPU.
Supports: Enable
Walls: 1 (on a 0.4 nozzle) The more walls and infill you have, the less flexible this model becomes. You will want it to be flexible when trying to put it on the spout.
Infill: 10%-15%
Bottom layers: 2-3 (More layers improves durability but reduces flexibility).
Top layers: 2
Installation Instructions:
These models are DIRECTIONAL! They have a top and a bottom. The bottom of the model is the thicker part and that is the part that wraps around the bottom of the spout and contacts the top of the gas can. I made this thicker for more durability. The top is a little thinner, so it is easier to get over the spout.
