Needed a new camera holder after swapping the lens to O3 for that field of view increase (and image quality)
I wanted a print that protects the camera (and the fragile interposer behind it), as well as the fragile VTX. Most camera mounts will put the camera directly over the VTX, and in an inverted crash, it will smash the VTX and bend the pcb… even if you put foam under it. Just ask Betafpv how their FCs are going with everyone using ultra minimalist 3D printed canopies… RX Loss? Oops. Well with the O4 the stakes are even higher, so i dont want any chance of the camera touching, or putting pressure on the 0.8mm O4 VTX.
With this design, the camera sits in front of the vtx, so no chance of that. This also provides some ‘suspension’ that eliminates jello, and produces clean gyro data for Gyroflow stabilization. Despite the flexibility of TPU, the structure is quite strong, preventing the camera from moving back into the VTX.
Yes it weighs 1.22g and this might be more than other designs, but I'll let you decide if 0.5g is worth the longevity of your O4 with O3 lens!
Bonus point: forward mounted camera means the ducts arent in view even with the much wider O3 FOV!
Added a version 2, which has 3 top arms and a little stronger lower mount, as i think there may be a chance that in a head-on collision the camera could twist and make contact with the VTX. I dont fly it that hard, but i didnt want to risk anything here. This version is 1.54g; thats heavier than i wanted but hey O4s are like $110 and i would rather use some more throttle than spend that every crash….
Also added a version 3, which has a detachable hood, and a special hood for using Camera Butter O4 Pro ND filters. That hood should be printed with 2 walls, 5% infill, no supports
Printed in TPU95A. And i recommend you put this on soon after printing, because when the TPU hardens it will be fairly tight
