Summary
I was trying to make a lightweight shell for my wired G502 but I didn't have time to finish my project, but already did the boring part of measuring all the mounts in the factory shell, so this might come handy for those who would like to design a custom shell.
If you use this model I'd love to see your creations!
11-02-2023: fixed the front and midle to accommodate the clear plastic and provide the correct support in the middle
17-02-2023: added an STL of the main PCB mount without side PCB mounts in case you want to get creative with side button placement
06-03-2023: BIG UPDATE
corrected tolerances
Corrected screw holes
Added an STL with all parts combined with correct heights, I figured many of you would just want to put the same layout in a different shell
Corrected sensor PCB placements
Added microswitches to the PCB dummy
- BE CAREFUL when inserting screws if you're using PLA, screw in gently, in the case of the sensor, if you brake the screw column, don't throw the part away, just remove the plastic washers and screw the PCB without them.
08-03-2023:
- Added a dummy of the sidebutton's PCB
17-08-2023
Added a CAD version,
The parts in light blue are the ones that I don't recommend you to play with the shape or dimmensions, those hold the PCBs in place and the tolerances are tight.
The parts in green are the ones that gives enough height to place both the sensor and main PCB with enough clearance, so you can change them horizontally, but vertically not much
- The ones in red are those that I just copied from the original case and are not critical for the model to work
18-08-2023
- Made a V2 STEP file with a couple of touches to make it look a little less...tinkercaddy
19-08-2023
- Added STEP files with dummies of the main PCB and the PCB for the side buttons
