Summary
Austin Microphones "Dog Collar" universal elastic shock mount.
You'll need:
- The threaded bottom part from a cheap microphone clip.
- FOUR rubber or silicone "no-slip grip" hair ties (not "felt" or "fabric")
- Two bands over the top edge, two over the bottom edge. See the photos
Not recommended for scaling to make larger/smaller openings. Here's why:
- The thickness of the pan-handle will change, and it won't fit in a standard mic clip.
- Smaller "studs" around the outside won't hold the hair-ties as well.
- Scaling-up for height (Z-axis) separates the elastic bands more, and might help stabilize tall microphones, but the pan-handle hole gets elongated, too.
You can also stretch the bands in different criss-cross patterns across the opening, to make them tighter and accommodate different size microphones.

NOTE: The gray microphone in the photo is a vacuum-tube microphone that weighs more than 1 lb. (~.5kg). For heavy microphones like this, you will need to cross the elastic bands in the center before putting the microphone through, so that they grip tighter.
