Summary
This is a demonstration of sensing nutrient of water levels using a VL53L4CD sensor from Adafruit. The intention is to accurately measure to 1mm resolution who much liquid is in a plant reservoir such as the DIY AeroGarden I've designed.
The stl is specifically designed to fit a hole built into the lid but the Fusion file is included so it can be adjusted for other applications.
The pictures show when the reservoir is empty, after adding nutrient, when the level is at the bottom of the seed pod, at a normal level and when over filled. The seed pods need some space at the top for the air roots to breathe and above the distance, the reservoir is overfilled.
The display is an Adafruit PyPortal which is mounted in one of their published 3D printed cases that I modified somewhat.

The sensor also works with the excellent Mycodo software which allows full control of a hydroponics garden.
