Summary
Recently in my country was developed a house of experiments, where children accompanied by their parents or students can take part to an experiment.
One of them which my eyes was attracted by, it was the hyperbolic table experiment where a line cross a vertical red glass with a hyperbolic cut design on it.

Project: Hyperbolic Table Experiment
Objectives
Design and create 3D printed object in Solidworks
Build complex designs from simple sketches to mathematical functions.
Explore the beauty of mathematics in a practical way.
You may believe when you look at a straight rod when it cross a hyperbolic slot to fail moving forward. But using math you can create a relation between a hyperbolic function and the length of a rod, in such a way the rod shall cross the slot on the other side in rotation through the middle of it.
Audiences
Anyone of any age that is familiar with 3D modeling and is getting started with more advanced options in Solidworks.
Students from high school or college can use this project to learn how to apply mathematical functions in 3D modeling.
Preparation
Students will need access to computers with Solidworks installed on them.
The students already should be familiar with design software and should know how to design simple objects from references.
Step 1: Buy non-printed parts
For rotation of the rod and to fix the table you will need 2 bearings of 608 model and 2 screws of 4x20 mm.
Step 2: Choose the hyperbolic function
The most important thing of this experiment is to choose the function that will draw the hyperbolic path. After that it is up to student how wide and long shall be the table and the rod.
Notice that the wide of the rod should be less with few millimeters, usually 2-3 mm, for a better crossing through the slot.
Step 3: Design
Design the parts based on the section "How I designed this" and notice to step 5.
Step 4: Check design
Before printing it is very important to check the design using Solidworks moving visualization to see if the rod is intersect with hyperbolic slot. If not the you can take to the next step, else student must correct either the length of the rod or the angle after that it spins.
Step 5: Printing
Before printing it is very important to check dimensions of the printer table.
The best way is to establish hyperbolic table edges based on printer table dimensions.
Results
Each student should have understand how to use functions in Solidworks and how mathematics can be fun.
