Supports the bottom deck rail span: Railing sections can be 6’–8’ long, and without a center brace the bottom rail can bow or dip in the middle. The foot block prevents that.

Maintains clearance: It keeps the bottom rail at the correct code-required height above the deck surface (usually around 2”).

Prevents long-term sagging: Composite rails expand, contract, and soften a bit under load. The block carries some of that weight so the rail doesn’t droop.

Easy to install: It’s a small adjustable plastic piece that screws into the underside of the rail and rests on the decking.
