There are a total of six files, three of which are used for 1-inch battle maps, and the other three are used for 1-inch paper maps.
1INCH files are used for battle maps with a scale of 1 inch = 5 feet. You can use markers, and I used a wet eraser on a plastic pad. All symbols work well at this scale.
QTR files are used to draw maps on graph paper with a scale of 1 inch = 5 feet. Use a ballpoint pen or pencil. The lines in this set of templates are twice as thick as those in another set, suitable for smaller scales and finer pens. At this scale, printing these small details is a test for your inkjet printer, and resin printers might be very useful. I found that wall patterns work extremely well, as do platforms, stairs, doors, large stars, and traps. However, chairs, pits, and spiral staircases are difficult to use.
All templates were specifically designed for this project on a computer, then subjected to photolithography, imported into Blender for trimming and scaling, and finally exported as STL files.
There are a total of three templates, as they will become larger under the 1INCH ratio
Template A includes doors
Template B includes covered and open pits, a trap, tables and two types of chairs, a bed, two styles of altars, a platform, a fountain, and a cage.
Template C has linear patterns: dots, dashed lines, wavy curtains, water waves, railings, rough walls, and arrow holes. You can draw straight lines on the edges of any template.
The names of each symbol are shown on the accompanying images, but not on the template itself, as that would make it too hard to read. Many symbols can have multiple meanings, so old blue module maps often include a legend on each page to explain the meaning of the symbols! It's both user-friendly and convenient.
All templates have a blurred grid that matches the expected proportions and is used to align objects.
By enlarging a quarter-inch model to 200%, you can create a battle map with a scale of 1 inch = 10 feet. Or, by reducing the scale to 50%, you can create a paper map with a scale of 1 inch = 5 feet. In either case, only adjust the X and Y values, not the Z value. What's the difference? The line thickness. At these sizes, everything is drawn very well.
I printed everything using white PLA or transparent PLA+. The layer height is 0.20 mm, and the nozzle size is 0.4 mm. Filling and support structures shouldn't be a problem. If the template warping is an issue, please let the print bed cool down before removing the printed object. If warping persists, increase the layer thickness in the slicing software.
