Model Description

A square outdoor lamp housing designed for a lamp with an E27 socket. The model is intended for wall mounting and consists of two main 3D-printed parts: a protective cover and a mounting plate with a bracket for an E27 lamp socket.

The design is focused on practicality: minimal number of parts, simple assembly, rain protection, mounting with standard screws, and printability on a regular 3D printer.

The best use cases are outdoor lighting under a canopy, near an entrance, on the wall of a utility building, terrace, garage, or technical room.

Possible print orientation: 

• cover - top surface on the print bed, open side facing upward;

• mounting plate - base on the print bed, bracket facing upward.

Weather Protection

The cover protects the socket and wiring from rain falling from above and partially from angled splashes. The approximate protection rating of the design is around IP43, assuming proper installation on a vertical surface.

Installation

The lamp is designed to be mounted on a wall or another vertical surface. Installation is done through the elongated holes in the mounting plate. Approximately 4 mm screws should be used.

The elongated shape of the holes makes it possible to slightly adjust the position of the part during installation. After the mounting plate is fixed, the E27 socket is installed, the wiring is connected, and then the protective cover is placed over the assembly.

Material

For outdoor use, ASA plastic is recommended. It is better suited for outdoor conditions because it has higher resistance to UV exposure and temperature changes compared to PLA.

For ASA printing, temperature control is important, and an enclosed printer chamber is recommended to reduce warping.

Recommended materials:

• ASA - the best option for outdoor use, especially under constant sunlight.

• PETG - acceptable for milder conditions, but less resistant to long-term UV exposure.

• PLA - not recommended for outdoor use, as it can soften from heat and degrade faster under sunlight.

For safety, it is best to use a low-heat LED E27 bulb. Incandescent bulbs or high-power bulbs that generate significant heat should not be used inside a plastic housing.
