An adapter to turn a storage container into a vacuum storage container with the help of widely available bottle vacuum stoppers.
I realized recently that my recent poor print quality was related to moisture absorption in my hygroscopic filaments. As a result I bought a dehydrator and resolved to find a better way to store my filament.

Filament Container
Find a container that will fix your reel and has an air tight seal. The lid should have some structure to it or it will not work for a vacuum container. If it has a latching lid, that's probably better (for my next batch I will be looking for that) -

Seal
3D Prints are extremely porous and perform poorly in applications dealing with air pressure. Therefore it is important to seal it in some way in order to prevent air flow through your print.
I dipped my print in Fiberglass Resin and let it cure before proceeding with assembly.
Assembly
- Cut a hole in the lid with a 44mm hole saw
- Epoxy the adapter into the hole and the stopper into the adapter
- After it is cured the minimum amount, epoxy the connection points on the underside
