SnapBoard Holder Generator

Generates holders compatible with menginventor's SnapBoard: Modular PCB Prototyping Frame using OpenSCAD.

Setup and Usage

Ideally, the Customize option here on Thingiverse will work, but I've been encountering the dreaded "We're sorry, but something went wrong" message.

If you do as well, download the breakout-board-holder.scad and get the latest OpenSCAD developer snapshot. At the time of this writing, the release versions are significantly out of date and suffer from severe performance issues.

Once you have installed OpenSCAD, open the breakout-board-holder.scad file, then make the following settings changes (these may change over time, so be prepared to hunt around):

• Edit > Preferences > Features> [x] manifold
• Design > [x] Automatic Reload and Preview
• Window > [ ] Hide Customizer (so it is visible in the right sidebar)
• In Customizer:
    - [x] Automatic Preview
    - (dropdown) Description Only (optional, but helpful)

OpenSCAD Customizer

The main render window will update as changes are made in the Customizer view, indicating what the controls are doing.

There are no enforced limits; it is very easy to create combinations that are not printable.

To restore the settings to a sane value, select the "Design Default" option from the dropdown under Automatic Preview. If you create a set of options you want to return to, you can name them with the "+" to the right.

  • The Left-Right "Tight" option generates the minimum necessary width.
  • The Release "Center" option creates a hole to assist in removing PC-boards.
