Note a version without the text is included so you can use it for any occasion for anyone.

A card with a cute kitten on the front, and a framed piece of paper for your heartfelt wishes inside!

I did this for my daughter's birthday.

MMU or tool changer is desired - it is possible to sit with the printer and change filaments about 15 times but it would get very difficult to have the correct one on hand without a lot of planning ahead of time.

This technically has 7 colours in it, which I printed using my MMU3 which only supports 5 colours.  I used a couple of tricks to accomplish this:

1. The grey colour is actually 2 layers of black with 1 layer of white on top.  Since PETG is more transparent this worked out well.

2. The pink colour was printed as separate parts out of PLA (!) since I didn't have pink PETG, and I put a pause at the start of layer 4 so I could insert the pink parts into the print and continue the print.  First time I have tried this, and it worked perfectly!  I was also prepared to glue them in with CA but it wasn't necessary.  The smallest of the 3 pink pieces was too small to get into the print during the pause, so I pushed it in after the print was completed.

I chose PETG for the print because I had a transparent red PETG from 3DPrintingCanada which turned out great, especially with the gyroid infill being visible.

Nozzle 0.4mm, layers 0.2mm

I added "mouse ears" for the front and back pieces - trim with a knife.

2 x 20mm M3 Socket Head Bolts used for the hinges.  Insert from the centre and use a ball head hex driver.

Filaments:

1. 3DPrintingCanada - Transparent red PETG

2. 3DPrintingCanada - White PETG+

3. 3DPrintingCanada - Black PETG+

4. Prusament - Chalky Blue PETG

5. Prusament - Orange PETG

6. Filaments.ca - Econofil Pink PLA (printed separately)

For the paper insert on the back panel, draw 2 concentric rectangles (in Word or other layout program):

• Outside = 201 mm x 122 mm

• Inside = 178 mm x 94 mm

After creating your message inside the "Inside" box and printing out the page, cut it around the "Outside" box - the Inside box will show inside the paper frame.  Standard photocopier paper fits between the frame and rear piece - the frame just clips on at the top and bottom.

Adding your own text to the front cover

Either:

1. use Fusion 360 with the Greating_Card_NoTxt.f3d file to add your own text, export only the following bodies/components as a .step file (front cover, your text, white, black, orange, yellow) - ensure the other bodies are hidden when you export.

2. or, use the Greeting_Card_NoTxt.step file, import it into PrusaSlicer, and add text there.

The fonts I used were:

• "Happy Birthday" - Bernard MT Condensed (15 mm height)

• "Michelle" - Lucida Calligraphy (20 mm height)

I did this on a Mac - not sure if Windows or Linux will have those fonts.
