I've been playing too much with magnets and have gotten into magnetic quick disconnect keychains. I made another type that works well for me, but I thought it would be cool to make a system where all the pieces were identical and as such could be swapped with any other piece. 

With that in mind, I made these magnetic quick disconnect key chains so that you can print as many as you want and, as long as you orient your magnets correctly, each one would fit with any other piece of the same kind. I also just wanted to try out onshape and so I whipped these up in onshape and made a few variations.

1st variation: most_annoying.stl

This was the first one I tried. It uses a small dovetail type joint and requires you to slide these together from the side. I quickly found out that this can be kind of annoying when the magnets are inserted, which led to variation 2.

2nd variation: normal_flat.stl

This one uses slightly rounded tabs of sort that slot into the next piece. With magnets inserted, these will easily slip into place and can hold at least 10 pounds (see last image). I don't have more weights here to try further testing, but these are pretty solid and minimal, although very slightly unbalanced.

3rd variation: normal_angled.stl

For these, I angled the connector but it can still be printed easily without supports. The tabs are rounder - the idea being that hopefully by thickening the base they are even less likely to break at those layer lines (hasn't been a problem for me yet, just trying to make the thing robust). Snap together really well and are more balanced when hooked together.

-3rd variation also includes a version with little ribs for grip (or just nicer feel).

All of these I printed with petg-gf as that is what I had loaded up and it honestly I just really like the look of the glass fiber filament.

I printed with 2 walls and 5% infill and have yet to break any of them in any way. 

Each one takes 12x3 magnets (2 of them per piece) to have some really nice hold without getting too crazy bulky although I may make some for my 8x2 magnets as well at a later point (if I don't have too much homework).
