This models is a part of my MECHA series of main SV06+ Components.
X-Axis Carriage
Custom X-axis carriage, takes inspiration from the Monoblock Carriage by @SilencedFros_2044064. Improved to fix some minor annoyances I had with it.
Uses M3 heat-set inserts (henceforth referred to as HSIs).
All critical dimensions are within the footprint of the original designs, so mod compatibility should be 100%.
Flex cuts clamp the bearings in place. If you need a tighter fit you can change it in Blender, but this works great for me. Please leave a comment if you encounter any issues. The model has cuts that function as material stress relief and holes to allow punching out the bearings if need be.
You will need a decently accurate printer, especially if you're using solid polymer bearings, else the fit might be too tight and increase stick-slip for polymer bearings.
Improvements over the Monoblock Carriage:
Material removed on the back to account for the flex that happens when bearings are inserted; this avoids any rear mounted components (e.g. a fan) from being pushed out of alignment or squeezing the flex cuts.
No flimsy small holes and features that break. Uses just the material itself to squeeze the bearings. (Do not print in PLA!)
Bearings are kept in place sideways by a separate piece, so that we don't have to go overkill on the clamping force, minimizing friction when used with solid polymer bearings.
Requires no special HSIs, just the standard length ones, unlike the Monoblock which requires shorter ones to not interfere with the bearing channels.
Print recommendations:
Print as oriented. We want precision and strength for the bearing channels.
Organic/Tree supports
15% gyroid infill
Vertical perimeters: 4 (7 if you need more rigidity)
Horizontal perimeters: 5 top, 4 bottom
I recommend printing in PETG or similar, PLA will deform when under constant stress.
