A violin bridge is bought as a "blank". It has the general shape of a bridge, but must be carved to fit the instrument it is being installed on. These tools help measuring your violin bridge so you know how to carve it.
The bridge height tool lays along the fingerboard and indicates on the bridge how high it should be. The bridge must be in the correct position for this to work. The 5mm end measures the height at the E string, the 7mm end measures the height at the G string. Use a pencil to mark just where the tip of the tool touches the bridge. This should be measured after the feet are carved.
The bridge curve tool shows the correct curve after the E and G height have been determined. Draw the curve through the two points determined using the bridge height tool.
Note: Setting up a violin is complicated. Attempt at your own risk. If you aren't comfortable doing this seek the help of a luthier.
