This is a magnetic mounting system designed to mount a Nevermore Mini air purification system (see link at bottom of description) at the rear of a Snapmaker U1 3D printer. Specifically, this has to be the standard Nevermore Mini that uses the Bambulabs base option (Basic_Build[Bambulabs_mount]). The mounting utilises the 3 screw holes at the rear of the printer that were originally used for a plastic transportation bracket, and uses magnets for easy removal/installation allowing for straightforward changing of filters and carbon without having to work in a restricted space.
Note that I am using a 4028 fan, and cannot vouch for how effective other fan types are when placed at the back of this printer. This fan exhausts upwards through the rear passage behind the toolheads, and I find that it has no effect on nozzle temperature stability, and doesn't restrict the exhaust of the fan.
A huge thanks to Nevermore 3D for such a brilliant air filtration system!
Parts List:
(Up to) 10x 6x3mm Magnets
Superglue
2x M3 6mm Brass Threaded Heat-Press Inserts
3x M3 6mm Socket Cap Head Screws (might be able to get away with longer)
2x M3 12mm Socket Cap Head Screws (16mm would probably also work)
Optional:2x 6x3mm Magnets
1x 25x25mm piece of ~1mm thick VHB tape
Instructions:
Print a Basic_Build[Bambulabs_mount] Nevermore Mini (see link at bottom of description)
Print 1x Nevermore U1-Bambu Base Adapter, 1x Nevermore U1 Mounting Base, and optionally (if you would like extra peace of mind!) 1x Nevermore U1 Mounting Backplate
Superglue up to 5x 6x3mm magnets (enough that you feel comfortable with the holding strength) in the blind holes (i.e. not the through-holes) of the Nevermore U1 Mounting Base
Superglue the same number of magnets into the corresponding holes of the Nevermore U1-Bambu Base Adapter, taking note to flip the polarity so that the two parts attract each other!
Heat press (with a soldering iron or similar) 2x M3 6mm brass threaded inserts into the upper holes of the Nevermore U1-Bambu Base Adapter
Screw down the Nevermore U1 Mounting Base into the 3 screw holes at the rear of the printer that were originally used for the plastic transportation bracket, using 3x M3 6mm Socket Cap Head Screws (could possibly use longer ones, not sure whats underneath the plastic!)
Screw the Nevermore U1-Bambu Base Adapter onto the Base of your Nevermore Mini using 2x M3 12mm Socket Cap Head Screws
Test it out! The Nevermore should magnetise nicely into place at the back of the printer
You can use the slots on the Nevermore U1 Mounting Base to attach cable ties for cable management
Optional:Print 1x Nevermore U1 Mounting Backplate
Superglue 1x 6x3mm magnet into the hole of the Nevermore U1 Mounting Backplate
Stick a piece of 25mm x 25mm VHB tape onto the square recess in the Nevermore U1 Mounting Backplate
Superglue 1x 6x3mm magnet into the rear hole of your Nevermore mini
Take the other side of VHB tape off to expose the sticky rear
Place the Nevermore Mini into the printer carefully, making sure that the magnets align before commiting to sticking the VHB tape onto the rear panel of the printer
Test it out! You now have an extra bit of holding power to retain the Nevermore mini in its rightful place (because I'm paranoid about things shaking off)
Recommended Print Settings (Snapmaker U1):
0.2mm layer height
0.4mm nozzle
ASA or ABS (something that won't distort at temperature)
15% infill (cubic or similar)
