The original buffer contains a large arm that fixes the buffer to the printer. This either covers the printer power switch or has a risc to block the z-axis (see 3rd photo).

The modification makes the buffer standalone and holds the tubes pointing downward from the table. The base can be fixed to the table using a small  screw clamp. This makes it easier to change the filaments.
