This is a mold for the Mold contest spring 2026.  Basic idea is a DIY Can Coozy. The mold is in 3 pieces, the 2 shell pieces align with a tab-in-slot connection. then slide on 4 pegs on the base. the top is open to pour or spray your desired hot/cold insulation medium.

To Print:

It depends on if you will be using a Hot  or cold material in the mold. For Hot soft plastics or exothermic reacting epoxies you will want to print in a resin printer. Resin can take the heat.  For cold material like 2 part silicon or spray foam insulation in a can, filament printing is ok. 

Post Print: for easier mold release, sand the surfaces smooth and/or paint on a layer of UV cure resin. Alternatively, you could attempt to use plastic wrap. 

To use mold: use a mold release. connect the 2 halves and align on the base. use binder clips or hand clamps on the sides. mix and pour your 2 part materials or spray in your canned stuff.

After materials are dried, use a blade to cut the excess from the top. to make a flat base for your Coozy. Remove clamps and gently remove the coozy from the mold.

Finish the surfaces how you like and enjoy.
