I play baritone saxophone with several different groups and I hate using music stands, but also hate having to use a traditional music lyre with paper music. Because of this, I searched for any preexisting 3D printable holders for my Kobo Libra Colour e-reader and could not find any suitable solutions to attach the e-reader to my saxophone. I wanted to use the Kobo Libra Colour e-reader because Kobo makes genuine parts for its Libra and Clara models available from iFixit and I wanted a device that could be repaired if it was broken during use. I had used a 3D printed phone lyre holder (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5648954) before and found it secure and functional so I imported the STL into Fusion 360 and made it significantly taller to accommodate my e-reader's dimensions. I also had concerns that the lyre clip method would not be secure enough to protect my e-reader, so I opted to remove the lyre connector on the phone holder and replaced it with a GoPro-style connector to be used with the fantastic and well-documented Modular Mounting System Arms (https://www.printables.com/model/185322-modular-mounting-system-arms-customizable?lang=en) and M5 thumbscrews and hex nuts. I attached the assembly to my baritone saxophone with a TPU pipe clamp I designed with a GoPro-style connector. The clamp consists of a rigid PETG GoPro-style connector plate attached to the flexible TPU clamp with two 8mm M3 screws and hex nuts.
Theoretically, any attachment with a GoPro-style connector will make this a universal holder for an e-reader (or other small tablet) for any conceivable application. If a clamp is necessary and the feature is cylindrical rather than slightly conical as in my case with the bari sax, I recommend using PETG rather than TPU as it will result in greater rigidity.
