This is a Card Scanner.
What is a Card Scanner? A card scanner is used to hold your phone to scan your sports cards, game cards, etc. It can hold it steadier than you can. Then you just drop your cards one at a time into the box. The card app on your phone notes what card it is, and adds it to your collection. Very handy if your curios about how complete or valuable your collection is.
I can't take complete credit for this design. It is based on the excellent design by:
Folding Stand by osmannurisahin https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5692148
This thing is really cool! Really! I have printed several for my fiends. Everyone loves it!
All I did to it, was add a hinge. Because my printers can't print such a large item, thus the hinge. The other change was a wider holder for the box. Some phones have the camera to the left - on the back. My old phone has the camera in the center of the back. For that phone the narrow version works well.
Print: Print either the Narrow Version, or the Wide Version. Print at least one card box. Print it in white for better card recognition.
Assembly: Slide the hinge parts together, slide a length of filament all the way across. Cut the filament to length. Put a drop of glue on each end. I used simple tacky glue from the craft store. When done, the whole thing can fold up!
To Use: Unfold it and lay it flat. So the phone holders are right side up. (the setting positions are on top) Setup both holders to the middle position. I marked mine so I would remember. It should look like the pictures. Place your phone on the front one, and the card box on the back one. Fire up your card app. Slide the phone / card box left / right until the card app can see the whole card box. A light shining on the card box might be needed to eliminate shadows.
Scan away!
OH YEA! This card scanner is absolutely free to print/use/SELL/etc. Go for it!
