Summary
I went looking for a 1541 style drive for my recently acquired "TheC64" Maxi system.
This is a remix from a fantastic design from "StmLord". I don't have the SD2IEC components, but I do have plenty of SSD SATA drives and USB adaptors. This is just a cheap adaptor I bought on eBay a few years ago, and is a fairly inexpensive and common component to find online.
I had to make the enclosure bigger to fit the width and length of the SSD, and add holes to the top shell for the screws to go through. I also cut a recess in the rear to accomodate the USB adaptor. Despite the top sliding closed, I wanted it to stay closed so 2mm machine screws were used, also for the front to attach. I filled in a fair bit of the front face, as I didn't have a need for that. If you need to poke LED's through, the shell is pretty thin, so a hand drill will sort that out quickly. I didn't see a need for now, but I may change that in the future with a flashing LED for one, and constant on for the other (dummy).
The base has accurate location of a 2.5" SATA drive, I only had 2 screws nearby to test this with. I was going to paint it, but for now it looks pretty neat in the weird pink PLA.
Anycubic Kobra S1
.2mm layer height, standard speed.
Supports, and mouse ear things.
Took around 2 hours to complete all objects, I printed the C= logo separately using blue and is glued on.
Edit: Quickly sliced down a floppy model from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6823032. I needed it to be approx 2/3 the original floppy disk size, so this one looked good. Currently printing it out now to slide in the front hole. I might have to add a back stop to prevent going all the way in. Future DarthKegRaider problem.....
