LG SideKick Handle Replacement
This handle commonly breaks, so I designed this part to replace it without having to replace the entire door.
The original handle breaks very easily, which makes this a frequent failure point. This 3D printed replacement should be more sturdy than the original due to the way the layer lines are oriented for strength in normal use.
Printing Notes
Print with supports
Orient the part the same way it will be used when installed
Supports can be a bit tricky to remove, but it’s manageable
This part isn’t perfect, but I’ve been using it for a while now and it works fine.
Installation Instructions
Pull the broken handle out (one of the ends probably broke off so it should be able to come out without too much trouble)
Unscrew the 2 screws on the handle to remove the latch assembly, put it on the new handle, and screw it back on. Be careful not to screw too tight, since you're working against layer lines
Use a plastic pry tool/spudger (see below for a printable one that worked for me), prying at the holes where the ends of the handle went into the door, so that there's enough room for the ends of the handle to slide in. BE CAREFUL prying, since the openings can chip and break if you're not careful, though a few small bits breaking off won't be a huge deal
With the plastic pried apart, slide the handle in and wiggle it a bit to make sure it's in place and movable. There may be some light squeaking, that's expect and may be fixed in the near future :)
