As a means of opening Str8_3D's Ancient Egyptian Lock:
-
Fill the bitting bed with clay.
-
Press the key blank into place inside the lock.
-
Remove the key blank from the lock.
-
Note the locations of the pin holes in the clay impression.
-
Insert pegs, such as segments of a wooden skewer.
-
Allow clay to harden.
-
Use key to open lock.
Note that Str8_3D's model is very small compared to actual Egyptian locks, and I find that size impractical for demonstration.
-
keyblank.stl is at the same small scale as Str8_3D's lock model.
-
keyblank-200scale.3mf is at 200% scale, to match the scale that I use for printing the lock. I think the
-
keyblank-200scale is also at 200% scale.
-
Even at 200% scale, this is smaller than an actual Egyptian lock. 400% scale would be about right. With locks made entirely of wood, they had to make them fairly large to do well at resisting forced entry.
