The paint guard plate is for those who has no chance to cover walls with the tape. You could use a long stick to place on the long distance. I've printer this using PETG, the main set of parts with 10% of infill, the handle with 30%.

To lower the filament amount for the base plate, would recommend to print without bottom layers.
