Summary
Saw a person on etsy making nuke light and thoght. They look cool, I want to have a go at making one.
So I created a 3d printed skeleton
Blender file included if anyone is interested
note, the city has some 'errors' in the model, just ignore the warning, it prints fine. it just has some extra interior walls that dont work properly (I couldnt be bothered to fix)

Post-Printing
Assemble the skeleton
Vx & Vy (vertical x and vertical y) slot into each other
Lr (lower ring) slides up from the bottom
Ur (upper ring) goes on top
Vx and Vy go intyo the base (I have included 2 bases, 1 plane, 1 with buildings - lovingly stolen from the excelent Greeble city blocks at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4084000)
Finally TLH (the light house - was going a bit insane by this point) goes on top to give you morespace to wrap lights.
Paint the city (I used an airbrush, something i've never used before and never realised how easy it was to use)
wrap 1m of indexable rgb lighting around the skeleton
I then covered the skeleton with chicken wire and then hot glued cotton wool onto it. Plugged it into a WLED controller and bingo
The top cover is just a hemisphere of chicken wire (I used a round cup to form the shape) also covered in cotton wool
Quality control by Stinky the cat (renamed king pong for the pucture of the painted city abovev. )
