i tried to repair the broken umbrella STL in the original:

Totoro with Umbrella by ElectricBeard (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2719594 )

i sadly couldn't fix all gaps and issues. but my slicers (slic3r PE and S3D) were able to handle and print it well. here and there you still can see very small gaps BELOW the umbrella, if you realy are searching for it. so i'm fine :-)
