A simple coffee tamper for the Wacaco Pixapresso basket. Replaces the included spoon. The base diameter is 44.4 cm, which is the perfect size for my Pixapresso basket.

Print settings

The print settings are the same as your printer's default settings. I recommend using a 0.4 nozzle. It's important to use non-toxic or food-grade plastic, such as PETG. PLA may not be suitable due to its brittleness. The final choice is at your discretion.

• Infill 15-30%, gyroid

• 2 walls

• 0.2 mm layer height

Notes

• The tamper base must fit completely into the basket without a spacer for double loading.

• If the tamper base doesn't fit completely into the basket, it will need to be adjusted - simply adjust the scale a few notches.

• It's also recommended to sand the base of the tamper with fine sandpaper to ensure the walls and bottom are smooth. This will prevent the tamper from getting stuck in the basket and causing excessive coffee buildup.

• If the tamper is difficult to remove or won't come out after tamping, you'll need to re-print it to a smaller size or sand its sides.

• If the tamper is loose in the basket, you'll need to re-print it to a larger size. This will cause a lot of coffee to accumulate between the tamper and the basket, resulting in poor pouring.

• After tamping, I recommend first rotating the tamper in the basket before removing it. If you can’t rotate it, you need to sharpen the walls of the tamper with sandpaper. Otherwise, when removing the tamper, the air will not pass through the gap between the tamper and the wall of the basket and will go through the outlet hole, which will lead to the destruction of the coffee puck and the appearance of channels.
