The Turtle submarine was born in 1775 during the American War of Independence and was the first diving device in the history of war that could be used for combat.

The main body of the model is divided into two parts. Six "accessory" parts

The Turtle, designed by David Bushnell, was a single-person, manually propelled submarine designed to attack British Royal Navy ships anchored in New York Harbor. The slender pillar-like structure at the front of the model represented a drill used to drill holes in the bottom of British Royal Navy ships. After that, the large rectangular pieces at the back would be attached to the hull and blow it up, as it was actually an explosive device. However, the hulls of British ships were too strong for the drill to penetrate, and the mission ultimately failed.
