I don't have a long enough caliper to measure the end-to-end length of the rod, so I made this. I placed the rod in the clamp and tightened the slider until it was firmly fixed. Then I used the caliper to measure the gap at the slider to determine the difference between the rods.

The slider uses M3 bolts and square nuts. If necessary, you may be able to insert a regular M3 nut.
