Sommer is a German manufacturer of garage door openers. Their ‘duo vision’ line features a controller housing equipped with a large red button for opening the garage door. When our button broke, I was unable to obtain a replacement from the manufacturer, so I designed one myself.
I believe that both the ‘duo vision 500’ and ‘duo vision 650’ use the same controller housing, and possibly other models do as well.
- Filament: PLA works well; other filaments may also be suitable but haven't been tested.
- Layer height: 0.2 mm is recommended for speed; while thinner layers can be used, most of the button will be concealed within the housing, making thinner layers excessive.
- Perimeter/Walls: Using ‘2’ worked effectively, though this is likely not critical.
- Infill: 5% infill provides ample strength while conserving filament.
- Supports: No supports are necessary.
Installation
No assembly required.
Simply push the button into the slot on the housing. This can be accomplished without needing to open the housing itself. Be cautious, as the two protrusions on the sides may damage the plastic controller housing if excessive force is applied.
Modify
The FreeCAD source file can be found in the Files section. Since the model is parametric, adjusting the dimensions should be straightforward. Please feel free to make any modifications as necessary.
