All along, I've always found it hard to grind drill bits with a diameter of less than 3 mm accurately. Due to the lack of convenient and practical auxiliary tools, manual grinding is often difficult, especially for drill bits with a diameter of less than 1 mm, the grinding process of which is even more challenging.

 

However, my patience is almost at its limit, and I have a large number of drill bits that need to be repaired. For this reason, I specially designed and made a special device called "Wishbone". Previously, I had been looking for ready-made solutions everywhere, but in the end, I decided to create this tool according to my own ideas.

 

With this device, even without advanced skills, you can quickly and accurately grind drill bits with diameters ranging from 0.5 mm to 3 mm. As abrasives, you can choose sandpaper or use various knife sharpening stones, including those with a diamond coating on the surface. And I have already made a < a target="_blank" href="https://go.like-it.link/jnQHk">GIANT disc sanding machine myself.Now, all that's needed is to equip it with a suitable base, which will make the entire grinding process more efficient and technically advanced.

 

When grinding drill bits, the operator needs to grind in a reciprocating motion, starting vertically and ending with a slight tilt, so as to form a stable back angle support on the cutting edge.

The bearing flange and the bearing seat

 

For the standard 120-degree angle often used for drilling hard materials, the drill bit needs to be installed with a 60-degree angle between its drill tip and the bearing flange.

 

If you want to process soft materials with a sharper blade angle, you should adjust the grinding angle to 45–55 degrees

 

It is recommended to use a protractor together, which will make the effect more intuitive. Of course, the specific operation is not complicated, and there will be a clearer demonstration in the video :) ... However, it's not really difficult at all.
