Boring Stuff
Here's the current version of a compulsive project I undertook. This is somewhat of a massive print, being 100x380mm (I managed to fit it on my SV08 diagonally). It has 7 compartments for filter media, with each section being 50x94x50mm. I used 8mm fiberglass rods to hold the filter above the tank (I had them lying around). The bar holders I have included work for 5mm thick glass. I went for PLA as it is fish-safe, but I would imagine there are other filaments would work well too.
You can either let the water naturally fall out of the exit on the filter or, if you just so happen to have some tubing with an outer diameter of 27mm (which I also just happened to have), you can move the outlet to the opposite side of the tank from the inlet. The choices available for the inlet should be based around the 20mm diameter of the hole. Flow rates will depend on what you choose to put in the filter; with coarse, fine, 3 floss pads, ceramic media, and carbon, the 450lph pump works well (which, believe it or not, I also just happened to have lying around). I have achieved excellent water clarity using this filter, as it has been in use for just over a month and everything is good.

- The filter doesn't obscure tank viewing.
- The filter media is very easy to access.
- It provides good circulation across the tank.
- You can use whatever you fancy for media.
- Assuming you put it towards the back, it doesn't prevent you from conducting tank maintenance.
- Print it stood up
