The entire set of components has been meticulously designed, allowing you to freely create your own desktop storage box. You can print each module as needed and cleverly assemble them to centralize the storage of various writing tools and other office supplies, keeping your desktop organized and clear at a glance. Each module is tailored to the storage characteristics of different items. Therefore, how you combine these modules to build a desktop storage solution entirely depends on your personal habits and desktop layout.
During the design process, what worried me the most was how to ensure that the tray and shelf could be firmly fixed in their respective modules during the sliding and pulling process. I had never really designed this kind of sliding structure that requires precise positioning and can automatically maintain stability at a specific position before, so I encountered many challenges in the early stage. Although I eventually found some feasible solutions, I still felt that there was room for further improvement in the optimization of this design.
If I had the opportunity to redesign this product, I would probably focus on adjusting the tolerance fit between the connecting parts of the modules. In some places, the clearance is too large, while in other places, the clearance is too tight. In addition, I would spend more time polishing the sliding mechanism of the shelf and tray to ensure that it runs more smoothly and reliably. If I had more time to deliberate repeatedly, I would even consider adding several modules to the original design to meet more personalized needs.
The modular design of this product is particularly well-suited to the process characteristics of 3D printing: you can simply print the modules you need on demand to create desktop storage solutions of various sizes and with different functions. If you want to add more modules that haven't been launched yet to your existing desktop storage system, this process will be effortless and convenient thanks to the design of standardized connection structures such as hexagonal and dovetail joints.
