This is a remix of the TH-D74/75 holder done in Fusion360. My compliments to Derek Mullen for coming up the base design. Many thanks to Larry McDavid who drove the dimensional and functional changes made to the original design.
This version of the holder has several added features:
With the intention of mounting the HT beside a car center console for mobile use, it was important the optional Speaker/Microphone and dc power cables be connected before the HT is inserted into the holder. The HT can be lifted out of the holder without removing the connectors. This forces the right-side slot to be open at its top.
The open side slot requires a sturdier holder; the thicker walls and added bar across the front allow that open side slot and provide superior protection the HT when mounted in a car.
This design with the spacer plate allows the belt clip to be installed on the HT while the rear of the spacer plate is mounted against a flat surface, giving finger access to release the belt clip. If the belt clip is not used, the spacer plate is not needed.
The spacer plate can be mounted by adhesive foam tape or #6 flat head screws to a car console flat surface or to a cell phone mount. The holder is attached to the spacer plate with (4) M3 flat head screws.
- The Speaker/Microphone hanger bar must be thin to accommodate the clip teeth. That hanger bar is attached with (2) M3 screws so it can be replaced if it fails, or it can be replaced with a metal bar. The Speaker/Microphone can be simply pulled up, off the bar without squeezing its spring clip. There is space for finger access to open the clip to attach the mic to the hanger bar. This is easily done without looking at the HT in the holder.
You will need (6) M3 inserts, (4) M3x10 flat head screws and (2) M3x8 or x10 pan head or button head screws. 3M VHB foam adhesive tape can mount the spacer plate or the holder without the spacer plate. The spacer plate also allows use of #6 flat head screws.
The holder is printed standing up. The spacer plate is printed flat with the inside surface up. The microphone hanger bar is printed with the radii up; it is important the back side of the bar be smooth for the mic clip to be pulled off.
If you can print with ASA, I recommend that you print all the parts in ASA. If ASA is used for the case, I found an enclosure and glue stick was mandatory. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Infill is not critical. I would use Gyroid at no more than 20% on the holder and spacer plate; the holder should be printed with (4) walls for greater strength. The hanger bar should be printed solid.
