I created this semi automated chamber heating setup to increase chamber temperatures for printing ABS, ASA, and Nylon variants like PA6, PA12, ect.
It uses NextGen's chamber heater and air filter combined with a water loop to heat the chamber between 50 and 70°C. Since I do not print anything PLA on this machine, I did remove the side fan and place the chamber heater in its respective location. The air filter went right across from it on the other wall. I did take away control of the rear fan from the printer and integrated it into my control system so that it can be used in conjunction with the heater to maintain chamber temps ± 2°C while printing.
When the heating function is turned on, it will enable the heater, the air filter, and the water loop (if installed). The heating function will continue to heat until the Cooling function is selected or is turned off manually.
When the cooling function is enabled, the heater is automatically turned off, the back fan turns on at 100%, the air filter remains running, and the water loops for the stepper motor remains on. The cooling system can turn off manually or it will turn everything off automatically once the chamber temps dip below 27°C.
All electronics are external to the printer to keep them as cool as possible.
Everything is controlled through an ESP32 microcontroller with a touch screen.
****Update: Used Base44 to make a web app to connect to wife and work remotely.
On your phone connect to wifi named “Chamber”.
To connect the controller go to your browser and go to http://192.168.4.1.
Enter your WiFi host and password and Save.
Go back to your normal wifi and go to https://chamber-control-f894fae3.base44.app
You will need to enter http:// [what ever your chamber's ip address is] and hit save. App is now linked to your chamber. you can save it on your homescreen and it will show as a normal app.
If you are away from home, you will need to VPN into your home network for it to work. I personally like OpnVPN.
