This is a wug tree ornament. A wug is a little mascot of the linguistics field based on Berko's morpheme study. I've used Gawne & McCulloch's CC0 wug image reproduction, scaled and converted to 3D in OpenSCAD.
Default size when assembled: 44 × 54 × 4 mm. 5 g filament / 12¢ filament cost / 26 minute print time.

Post-Printing
- Remove the two halves from the print bed. They may be quite fragile.
- Apply a thin layer of glue to one side, making sure the legs and ring have some glue coverage.
- Align and press the two halves together back to back. Remove excess glue before it dries.
White glue / PVA works quite well for opaque PLA. Clear glue might be better for translucent prints.
How I Designed This
- I extracted the inner contour from Gawne & McCulloch's SVG figure in Inkscape.
- The centre of mass was calculated using Inkscape's Visualise Path → Measure Path extension. This is used to place the hanger ring to make sure the wug doesn't hang squint.
- OpenSCAD (≥ 2019.05) was used to emboss the inner contour half the height of the outer contour.
As the source image is CC0, I published this under the least restrictive licence that Thingiverse allows.
