I wanted to make an insert press, using whatever stuff I had lying around, which turned out to be a 400mm 2020 profile, a 350mm MGN12 rail, some toothed idlers for 6mm belts and a bunch of M10 nuts and bolts for the counterweight. Oddly enough I couldn't find an existing model to use or easily modify so, like everybody else, I ended up making my own.
The handle/wire-handling-thingie was sort of an afterthought, which is why it's simply attached on the outside of the idler-housing.
I printed everything in PLA, using somewhat strong settings like 4 walls and 40% infill, but I don't think that kind of strength is necessary, to be honest.
You would need a bunch of M5 10mm buttonheads, a couple of heatset inserts, and 2 M5 35mm socketheads for the idlers (4 more if you add the handle), some M3 for the rail, and of course a bunch of t-nuts for most of these bolts.
The belt is attached to both the arm and the counterweight using the BeltWedge.stl so print 2 of those.
If you're reading this, you're probably considering making a press like this, and you should!
Like a pistacio bowl, an insert press is a life-changing experience, that makes you realize how sad, shallow and utterly deprived of true joy your life has been before. There are even rumors (unconfirmed, as of now) about entire religions emerging around insert presses (and pistacio bowls)!
