6/9/2024 - Version 2 I've uploaded the second version.  some of the originals still failed, but this version has had no failures for me in the past 18 months. I did not taper the top because the plastic will shave off as it is pounded into place, so it should not require adhesive. This one is printed solid, and I suggest cutting it in half so the filament runs the length of the piece, and then gluing them after printing:

Tired of the cheap wooden laundry drying racks, I purchased the Honey Can Do Oversize Collapsible Clothes Drying Rack.  I had the apparently common problem with the ends of the rods breaking off from the supports, so this is a replacement:

About half of them snapped off with pretty light use:

The part of the caps that are stuck in the rods were easily removed with a drill – I just used a drill bit that was slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the metal rod.

I used tinkercad to design a simple replacement and tweaked the measurements until they fit:

I printed them in PETG .2mm. It can be a tight fit. I put a bit of super glue on the part that goes into the rod and then tapped them in with a dead blow hammer. They've been sturdy so far.
