This is a retrofit spool-holder design for the Series 1 3D Printer to ease strain on the extruder pulling in filament.
Requirements:
- original Series 1 3DP spool bracket (metal L-bracket) or L-bracket of same dimensions
- two thumbscrews (M3, the ones used on desktop computer cases)
- four M3 screws and nuts (these come with the original bracket)
- two 608 bearings
Assembly:
- Print all three associated parts: Guide, Roller, and Leg (L-bracket model provided for reference).
- Remove the original Series 1 spool holder from the metal L-bracket by removing the four screws and nuts from the original spool holder. Save the four screws and nuts for later.
- Attach the new filament guide in the same way the original spool holder was attached.
- Press a 608 bearing into both sides of the roller.
- Screw the L-bracket into your Series 1 3DP with two M3 thumbscrews.
- Put the roller through your desired filament spool and sandwich the roller between the filament guide and supporting leg (Refer to provided images).
- Set the supporting leg down on top of the thumbscrew.
- Done!
