I made a ridiculously over-engineered vault built like a heavy steel cylinder with flanges, two lids with matching seals, closed with 12 bolts.
The vault can hold 12 small bottles of precious spirits of 40mls each (bottles 32mm diameter, 120mm height).
The bolts could be regular hardware M10x25 + M10 nuts (hex heads for 17mm keys) or you can print them yourself (files are included).
The bolts/nuts are made with the wonderful “nut job” script, that I enjoy using every time as it generates wonderful threads that print easily and work every time. Find it here: https://www.printables.com/model/94761-nut-job-nut-bolt-washer-and-threaded-rod-factory
For the big pieces I recommend using very little infill (5%) and a large nozzle (0.6mm at least) to reduce print times. It is also a good idea to start with a fresh spool of filament (ask me how I know ;-)
The file vault.stl contains the body and both lids. Use the “split into objects” command in your slicer to get the individual pieces. Oh, and there is a key for the bolt heads as well (key.stl).
I am also adding a file “vault_void.stl” where the inside of the vault is just an empty cylinder (149mm diameter) should anyone need that.
Print the seal with a flex material (TPU) and the screws with better resolution and more infill (0.6mm nozzle is still ok).
I am including the OpenScad files for you to play with. If you need versions for other bottles or objects just let me know.
Please leave a like or comment.
